Dimensional letters are individually cut, three-dimensional letters and logos that add physical depth to a sign. Unlike a flat printed or painted surface, dimensional letters project outward from the wall or mounting surface, creating shadow and visual texture that catches attention from a distance.
Dimensional letters can be installed directly to a building facade, mounted on an interior wall, or applied to self-standing structures such as monument signs and other low-profile sign bases. They are commonly used for building identification, lobby branding, and reception area signage.
Dimensional letters and channel letters look similar at a glance, but they solve different lighting needs. Dimensional letters are illuminated externally, meaning any nighttime lighting comes from an outside source such as a gooseneck light or building floodlight, not from within the letter itself.
Channel Letters are internally illuminated, with LED modules built into the letter housing. If maximum nighttime impact and internal illumination are the goal, channel letters are the better fit. If the application does not require illumination, or exterior lighting is already in place, dimensional letters are typically the more economical option.
